Mexico City, April 9, 2025 — As part of the Mexican Film Industry FAM Trip organized by the National Chamber of the Cinematographic Industry (CANACINE), the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles, and the Motion Picture Association (MPA), EFD Studios reaffirmed its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and international collaboration in the audiovisual sector.
During a tour of Stage 4 at Estudios Churubusco, Mauricio Van Hasselt, Director of Production and Innovation at EFD Studios, gave a presentation highlighting that EFD Studios is now one of the 10 largest film equipment rental companies in the world, with operations in Mexico, Colombia, Spain, and the United States. He also shared insights into the company’s unique infrastructure, which includes in-house carpentry, metalwork, electrical, and costume workshops, along with a highly skilled and certified technical crew.
“One of the key pillars that guide our mission is the intersection of education, diversity, and sustainability,” Van Hasselt emphasized.
In line with this mission, EFD Studios maintains a long-term vision for environmental improvement, investing in research and development of sustainable technologies, while prioritizing ongoing training for both its staff and the production teams it partners with.
“Our sustainability efforts go beyond the set,” Van Hasselt added. “We choose to work with vendors who share this commitment, actively reduce their carbon footprint, and align with our code of conduct and corporate values.”
Representatives from leading studios including HBO-Warner Bros Discovery, Amazon MGM Studios, Netflix, CBS Studios, and The Walt Disney Company, among others, toured various stations where EFD Studios showcased its One Stop Shop ecosystem, which integrates comprehensive solutions in imaging, technology, and operations.
Highlights included cutting-edge tools such as the Technodolly (the only one of its kind in Mexico and among the few operational units in Latin America), the Technocrane, virtual production screens, Bolt and Bolt Jr. robotic arms, ARRI Alexa 35 cameras, Fisher 10 and 11 dolly systems, remote heads, and Vintage Glass lenses presented by cinematographer Serguei Saldívar, AMC. Clean energy alternatives like electric batteries were also featured as sustainable options for on-set use. Each station was staffed by expert technicians who provided real-time demonstrations and answered questions.
In addition to its most representative tech lineup, EFD Studios also presented highlights from some of the most iconic productions it has supported, including Roma (2018, Alfonso Cuarón), Bardo (2022, Alejandro González Iñárritu), Apocalypto (2006, Mel Gibson), 007: Spectre (2015, Sam Mendes), Y Tu Mamá También (2001, Alfonso Cuarón), Bad Boys for Life (2020, Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah), and many more, reaffirming the trust that major national and international productions have placed in the studio’s experience and technology.
During the tour, Eduardo Terán, a member of the EFD Studios Board of Directors, addressed the guests with a warm message:
